AUDIT, RISK AND IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE POSITION OF CHAIRPERSON AND INDEPENDENT EXTERNAL MEMBERS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the appointment to Griffith City Council’s Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).
Council is seeking to fill the position of the Chairperson and independent external member/s (the members) to the ARIC.
The appointment of the Chairperson and independent external member/s will be undertaken in accordance with the Office of Local Government’s: Guidelines for Risk Management and Internal Audit for Local Government in NSW (the Guidelines).
The appointment of the Chairperson and members will be required to satisfy the independence and eligibility criteria within the Guidelines. Applicants are to possess strong leadership qualities, be able to lead effective committee meetings and maintain effective working relationships within the ARIC and the Council, together with the General Manager.
The role of the ARIC is to provide independent assurance and assistance on Council’s governance, risk, control and compliance frameworks including:
- Compliance
- Risk management
- Fraud control
- Financial management
- Governance
- Implementation of the strategic plan, delivery program and strategies
- Service reviews
- Collection of performance measurement data by the council, and
- Any other matters prescribed by the regulation.
Committee membership is on a voluntary basis.

FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE POSITION OF COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES
Council is currently advertising for community representation on the Floodplain Management Committee. The main role of the Floodplain Management Committee is to:
- Oversee and guide studies related to the Floodplain Management Plans.
- Provide a forum for discussing technical, social, economic, and environmental issues.
- Consider existing flood risks, flood mitigation measures, community awareness, and the Floodplain Management Manual.
- Facilitate community input in the development and implementation of the plans.
- Provide Council with sustainable, integrated recommendations for managing flood risks and reducing flood damage, in line with the NSW Floodplain Development Manual.
- Regularly review and update the plans and assess Council floodplain risk plans and studies.
