Local Government Week
Local Government Week 2024 - Monday 29 July-Sunday 4 August
Local Government Week is designed to showcase the work councils do in their local communities, including the wide variety of services they provide.
This year Griffith City Council will celebrate with a diverse range of activities catering to all residents.
The week-long event is a chance to learn more about Council's functions and the wide array of services it provides to the community.
Griffith Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre (GRALC) will offer the following classes free of charge for Griffith residents:
- Monday, 29 July - 9.30am Body HIIT & 5.30pm Body Pump
- Tuesday, 30 July - 6.00am Spinnerz & 1.05pm Spin n Core
- Wednesday, 31 July - 10.30am Gentle Stretch & 1.05pm Body HIIT express
- Thursday, 1 August - 1.05pm Weight n Core & 5.30pm Core Crusher
- Friday, 2 August - 6.00am TFC & 9.30am Body Balance
- Saturday, 3 August - 8.00am Aqua Aerobics
Council will recognise the unwavering commitment of its facility volunteers, rewarding them with a special morning tea on Tuesday, 30 July at the Griffith Regional Theatre Foyer.
Council Café, will be held at Griffith Central on Thursday, 1 August and we will have giveaways including coffee vouchers.
During Local Government Week, the Griffin Green Affordable Housing Project will also be officially opened, marking a significant milestone in the combined efforts of Griffith City Council and Argyle Housing to provide affordable housing options.
We will highlight the dedication of Council staff members, who will be featured on social media.
Activity Booklet
As part of Local Government Week celebrations Council has created an Activity Booklet.
The purpose of our Activity Booklet is to provide some creative, fun and inspiring things to do at home following a visit to one, or more, of Griffith City Council's facilities. Although these resources are aimed for primary school-aged children, anyone is welcome to access them. After all, we love to encourage creative learning and exploration across all ages!
