Don Best Park – Community Meeting and Garden SpaceDon Best Park’s upgrade was part of the Safer Cities Her Way 2680 project, which aims at improving perceptions of safety for women, girls and gender diverse people within the Griffith CBD.
The project aims align with the United Nations Safer Cities for Girls programme:
1. Increasing women and girls’ safety and access to public spaces
2. Enabling women and girls’ to move freely and alone in their community
3. increasing women and girls’ engagement with how the spaces around them are designed and managed.
Soroptimist International Griffith has collaborated with Griffith City Council Safer Cities Her Ways 2680 Project to champion the Community Garden at this site.
Soroptimist International work to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide. Soroptimists are committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their potential, realise their dreams, and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities.
Our vision is to foster community engagement in the garden space and to create a welcoming, safe and inclusive meeting place, particularly for women and girls.
