Griffith Australia Day Award Nomination Deadline Approaching

Do you know a local legend who goes above and beyond for the Griffith community? Now is the perfect time to give them the recognition they deserve!Nominations for this year’s Australia Day Awards are open, offering a chance to celebrate the inspiring contributions of Griffith’s unsung heroes, community groups, and events.
This is your chance to shine a spotlight on those who make a difference, big or small, across our region. With just weeks to go until nominations close on Friday, 15 November 2024, don't miss the opportunity to honour someone who makes Griffith a better place to live.
Griffith City Council’s Community Development Coordinator, Melissa Canzian, is urging residents to help acknowledge these extraordinary individuals.
"Their selfless service deserves to be celebrated, ensuring their efforts don't go unnoticed," she said.
"I urge everyone in the community, whether from sporting clubs, service organisations, or local groups, to nominate someone for an Australia Day Award. Through their dedication, these individuals play a vital role in shaping our city, and they deserve recognition."
Nominations are being accepted in the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year (Under 25 as of 26 January 2025)
- Environmental Citizen of the Year
- Young Environmental Citizen of the Year
- Community Project of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Sports Team of the Year
- Club Person of the Year
