
The Bald Archy Prize 2025

The Bald Archy Prize strikes a chord with the public, and a nerve with the arts establishment! For over 25 years, it has provided an opportunity for artists of all styles and standards to create portrait paintings of humour, dark satire, light comedy or caricature. It encapsulates the irreverent, larrikin Australian spirit in a way that appeals to people from all walks of life.

BAZAAR: Community Art Exhibition & The Couture Collection
Opening Event: 6pm Friday 2 May - Closes: Sunday 15 June
Exquisite handmade gowns from the Gallery’s Couture Collection, designed by the late fashion masters and life partners, Ross Weymouth & John Claringbold, will be showcased, alongside works of art created by our community. Local artists and craftspeople are invited to take part, using the theme of BAZAAR for inspiration. (Please contact Gallery for details on how to be involved).

ARTEXPRESS 2025 presents a selection of outstanding bodies of work submitted for the 2024 HSC examination for Visual Arts by NSW students. The Visual Arts Stage 6 Syllabus directs students to create bodies of work that represent their intention as artists and reflects or references a critical understanding of the art world.

Gerard Brown: Carrathool Races
Opening Event: 6pm Friday 12 September - Closes: Sunday 19 October
Local artist Gerard Brown draws inspiration for his body of work from his life experience as a farmer, as well as his time spent facilitating life drawing sessions for artists. Having bred and trained racehorses, his portrayal of the horses and race-goers of the legendary race meeting at Carrathool shows this sport of Kings and Queens contrasting against the treeless landscape of the plains of the region.

National Gallery of Australia: Sharing the Collection
Treasure Trove | Exhibiting all year
The Gallery is delighted to be hosting work from the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, as part of its Sharing the National Collection initiative. This program will see precious artworks from the NGA being loaned to regional galleries all over Australia. Griffith is hosting Treasure Trove - 50 years of Jewellery from The National Gallery of Australia. This collection features key pieces of contemporary jewellery from the NGA Collection and shares an overview of creative trends in the development of Australian contemporary jewellery over the past four to five decades.

JamFactory ICON Julie Blyfield: Chasing a Passion

One of Australia’s most revered contemporary craft practitioners, Blyfield is highly skilled in the traditional metalsmithing technique of chasing and repoussé. These techniques are central to the creation of her delicate and ornately patterned works, which are primarily constructed of sterling silver and bi-metal. These works are inspired by her experience visiting the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
